The Amadeus Orchestra is one of the world's foremost training orchestras for young professionals and music students. They meet several times a year for coaching at the highest level. The Amadeus has helped launch careers with every major British orchestra, and others as far afield as the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and their concerts have become renowned for their quality and vitality.


In recent years the orchestra has performed eight of Shostakovich's fifteen symphonies, most of Stravinsky's ballets, Mahler and Rachmaninov's Second Symphonies, Walton's first Symphony, Elgar Cello Concerto with Raphael Wallfisch and Strauss' Four Last Songs with Janis Kelly and our Principal Conductor, Philip Mackenzie.

- High Peak Orchestra

The High Peak Orchestra is noted for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere and flourishes under the experienced and enthusiastic baton of Andrew Hodkinson. We rehearse 8pm Monday Evenings at the Mechanics Institute in Whaley Bridge. New string players are always welcome (especially double basses), and there are occasional vacancies for wind players.

We perform three to four concerts a year, including our regular appearance in the Buxton Festival Fringe.

The High Peak Orchestra support several local charities, and always pleased to consider opportunities to perform locally for worthy causes.
